Having a laptop whose battery can last for so many hours
is something someone can boost about because a long lasting laptop battery
helps you carry out your daily activities efficiently and at ease. Modern
laptop now comes with good battery capacity which makes their battery to last
longer than that of old Laptops but it still need to optimize for it to last
longer. That leads us to today’s topic which is How to increase your laptop battery life
Ways to increase your battery life or performance
- Reduce your screen brightness: One
of the most effective way to increase your battery life is to dim your display, the clear and brighter
the screen of your laptop is, the more it sucks a lot of battery that is why it
is advisable to reduce it brightness for it to last long. To do open Windows Mobility Center in your windows 7 > go to the brightness tab and reduce it to the
lowest for better battery performance
- Change
your power plan: Windows laptop come with some power plan so changing your power plan to power saver
can do a whole lot of good in increasing your battery life. to do so on your
windows PC Click on the start button
> type Power Option > select Power Saver and close the tab
- Turn
off your Wi-Fi: Turning
Your WI-Fi On is one of the major factors that can lead to battery shortage, while
switching it off will help in keeping your battery life. Many computers usually
comes with external Wi-Fi button, so
quickly switch it off to save your battery life an alternative way to do so
move to the Wi-Fi icon in the far right
Conner of your screen > click on it > and Switch it off
- Close
unused applications: An application that is running in the
background has the power to reduce your system battery life slowly. If you have
too much application running in the background quickly head to your Task Bar and close any application that
you are not using to save your battery from running down quickly.
- Remove
unused hardware or peripherals: Removing unused peripherals
can save your battery, and what are unused peripherals? Unused peripherals are
stuffs like external Hard Disk Drive, USB Drives, Webcam and others are those hardware’s that can suck out your
battery life, ejecting them when not in use will go a long way in increasing
your battery life.
- Switch
off your Bluetooth: Bluetooth is another major thing that reduces
your battery life when turned On, I will recommend turning it off when not in
use to save your battery life and you can do so by clicking on the Bluetooth
icon and turn it off manually.
- Plug
it before it dies off: Letting your pc to shutdown because of
low battery is not good for the battery health cause it reduces the life span
of the battery, charging it before it reaches below 15% helps it not to loss it
potentials.
- Upgrade
from HDD to SDD: The old form of storage which is the Hard
Disk Drive reduces the battery so upgrading to a Solid State Drive will help in
increasing your battery life because the SDD is built on a flash memory which
requires far less power to operate unlike the usual mechanical HDD. the SDD has
a lot of benefit apart from saving your battery life which is it makes your
computer run faster and helps access your files quicker.
- Get
a new one: Getting a new laptop battery helps reduces the work load
of the other. Imagine you having two notebooks when one is filled up you can
easily switch to the other notebook and continue with what you are doing, so
it’s apply to your laptop battery, when you have two battery you choose anyone
of them letting the other one to cool down.
